BYOB Campaign Reaches Silver Oaks Apartments

Iamgurgaon’s “Bring Your Own Bag“ (BYOB) campaign against the use of plastic bags has been gaining momentum and seeing public participation.

The message is to use cloth bags and completely remove plastic bags from the city of Gurgaon. The campaign began 3 months ago and targeted the main shopping complexes of New Gurgaon; to help change public habits by distributing cloth bags and requesting their continued use. It has been widely promoted through Iamgurgaon’s (IAG) Facebook Page through videos, posters and informative posts.

Today, a team of volunteers spent an evening with the residents of Silver Oaks Apartments in DLF Qutab Enclave-I to give them an overview of the hazards of using plastic bags; how they buy xanax 2mg clog drains, do not get absorbed in the soil and kill animals who consume them. They highlighted the point of polypropylene bags being plastic and non-biodegradable too.

The residents had gathered in the complex’s Community Center to play Tambola, and the winners were rewarded with IAG’s sturdy canvas bags so the message on the use of cloth bags travels home with them. Residents also signed a scroll to pledge their support for this campaign.

In the coming days, IAG will visit more residential complexes and interact with more residents to highlight the importance of banning plastic and develop a habit of carrying and using cloth bags.
