It was very difficult to obtain forest species saplings from any nursery around the country. Out of the total 200 species that we wanted to introduce in the park, only about ten to twenty percent is available at the forest nurseries of the country. Therefore a major endeavor had been undertaken to collect seeds of the native species from forests of Central India, Aravali Range in Rajasthan and Shivaliks.
The nursery would be our main source of native plants (trees, shrubs, herbs and climbers) for 2013 plantation. The propagation of plants is done by two methods: by seed and the other is by cutting or other vegetative reproduction. We also plan to collect plants from forest floors and then raise them in our nursery.
